Little Inklings 2025
As the plane lands, the memories start flowing I close my eyes and remember the good times when it was snowing The feeling of the snow under my skis as I flew The ache in my heart only grew I can’t wait to go back As I remember the adrenaline flowing through my veins The longing for Snowmass only brought more pain Skiing with my family and friends brought me the best time It was the only time I felt alive I can’t wait to go back I was transported back to the difficult runs And all the fears I had overcome I raced through the trees, longing for speed My body had registered it as a need I can’t wait to go back For a split second, I felt the warm sting of hot chocolate in my hands The memories flooded through my mind of all the fun I had But then I was shot back to reality, where that was all in the past Good things never last I can’t wait to go back I open my eyes and get out of my seat I take a deep breath and wait for the future I’m yet to meet With my head held high, I walk forward and don’t look back Because I will return, I know that I can’t wait to go back ODE TO THE MOUNTAINS By Bruna Damato ’29 96
