I AM FROM By Beatrice Hill ’29 I’m fromMiami and Vail. I’m from hiking massive, rocky fourteeners to biking flat Florida trails with the smell of ocean, I’m from the sound of a coyote howling while my dog tries to bark back, but I’m also from the sound of a rushing Colorado river, right through the center of town. Everything around me that I’ve been brought up with defines who I am. My favorite food, Papa’s grilled salmon in a bag with vegetables on a perfect summer day, with the smell of Matzah Ball soup literally infused into the apartment. The smell of a Florida campfire on my patio, and the sound of my brother’s guitar. My brother’s guitar and our band. I’m fromwriting songs with my brother, his guitar, my drums, our piano, our bass, our singing. I’m fromMiami and Vail, from a Jewish household. With all of my family, My mom, my dad, my brother, my dog. But these experiences don’t make themselves, I define who I am, I’m frommy experiences and myself. 60
