Kai Koita ’30 down at him, trying to “protect” his owner from me, and wonder what is wrong with him. Like, I’m literally a tenth of his size and not even doing anything to him. Why do you have a problem with me coming down to the ground? I’m not trying to hurt you or your owner; I’m just looking for food. But then again, what else can you expect from something that chases its own tail thinking that it will eventually catch it? Occasionally, I even feel bad for him. I mean, the most exciting part of his life (other than chasing his tail) is trying to catch me, and he never even will. And it’s not just this one dog. All the dogs I’ve ever met seem to hate me for no reason. I didn’t do anything to them, but they all always start barking at me, trying to scare me away. It kind of annoys me that something so stupid thinks it could scare me. But I’ll let this dog keep trying, partially because I feel bad and also because it annoys him when he fails, until maybe he realizes he never will catch me (or his tail). 21
