Little Inklings 2024
Celia Prescott ’28 1,620miles away and I am still connected to this place I see pictures of Instagram Of this once sunny, but now winter wonderland The snow clings to the trees, hugging it, keeping it warm like a ski jacket Perched on every limb like white, tiny birds The grass is gone Nights are long And yet, My heart still is Where the pines are Even in rain, Even in storm, I am beside myself with joy On the water, sailing in the rain The raindrops fall from the sky The clouds are weeping, unconsolably They pelt the ground, hard and fast Just like like my own tears When I have to leave, at last When my time is done, I know I’ll be back But in the meanwhile, My heart still beats For where the pines are 99
