Little Inklings 2024

The leaves dance in the breeze Not a sound to be heard When all movements seize Then out of nowhere, there will be a bird On the ground, lost in despair They have fallen very far in the air The little bird, far from the nest In need of some help, and a rest Now this little bird is helpless With no one for help It is too defenseless Then out of nowhere, there is a yelp A very large bird has swept down to the cool ground Where the little bird makes no sound In fear of violence, this bird moves away Then the big blue bird moves halfway Almost as if to say, Don’t worry I will save you The helpless bird has no other choice But to go with help, and hope it is true Because the little bird has no voice The big bird then wants to assist So it brought the bird back to insist That it should stay in the large nest, as a mother figure The little bird agrees, its surprise growing bigger The bird thanks the big one Then its on its way The little bird decides that it is done Letting others stay On the ground so scared That it will always care For the new little birds lost in the rough pavement For they are facing displacement Now the chick is a big bird The air is crisp and the leaves are gold Then out of nowhere there is a word A word of need coming from the cold So the big bird swoops down, eager And it helps the chick that is very meager Now the bird knows the importance of helping others The importance of helping others GENERATIONAL LOVE By: Isabelle Sachar ’29 84
