Little Inklings 2024
I pass by the water every day. The turtles are swimming and the seagrass sways. But when you look down, it’s not what it seems, you look down and the water is wavy, its colors are blue, black, teal, and navy. The ocean looks at you, mean and strong, but if you only knew the ocean, you’d see it as calm, and you’d think to yourself that you are wrong, the ocean is a billion times bigger than you, but not all of it is clear. I dive down underneath, down in the deep I can finally see. Under the surface lies the trash, all the coral has been detached; the water is not what it seems. UNDER THE SURFACE By: Daniel Wals ’29 8
