Little Inklings 2024
SELF-PORTRAIT I am a tiger, ambitious and determined, an instinct for challenge in each stripe. But still with a soft and silky smooth saffron fur coat. Or I am blue, with variety and meaning, Or sometimes with unpredictable clue, Relaxingand tranquil like anaquamarine, Or a strong and passionate royal blue. But I am also rain, pattering on the roof, Drip, drop, pit, pat, Falling from the sky as subtle droplets, But other times as harsh floods. Still I am a piece of warm velvet, Currently being sewn into amasterpiece, Evenly developing thread by thread, Although never entirely complete, Or I can be a waltz in a royal ballroom, Flowing with grace in each step, Or I can be a tango at a party, Passionately placed and paced. I am a field of sunflowers, Swaying in a light breeze, Bright tones of yellow and green, Highlighting a dull, brown field, And I am a red rose with many layers, Always developing in different ways, Frommy bright red hue, To my numerous petals. But from a vicious tiger, Or an aquamarine blue, To a field of flowers, With a vibrant yellow hue, I amGillian. What do I want to be? I want to be rain I want to be that beautiful weather when that soothing symphony of tears falls down from a silver gray sky If only I could be that noise when the twilight hits and the drops of water come down on a window When everything is still and quiet and the room is filled with peace I am a gazelle galloping along the stream. The leaves falling down slowly from the tall oak trees. During the cold-breezed autumn, the dark blue sky reminds me of sapphires glowing in the fresh grass. I hear the sound of the large oak trees moving through to wind— I am catching the green leaves from the dark blue sky. The other gazelles gallop along as we go to the river.
