THE LEGENDARY LIBRARY OF ZIOMBUS, THE GOD OF WISDOM By: Axel Monssoh ’30 The world itself is full of knowledge and as time goes on, our knowledge strengthens and spreads from place to place. As we gain our knowledge, we also share it. But it all started in one place in the great city of Cairo, Egypt with a great man named Ziombus. Ziombus was very poor and only had enough money to pay for his daily dinner. Even though Ziombus had very little money, he was also the happiest person on Earth and a mentor to all the citizens of Cairo. Every day, Ziombus wrote down five of his favorite lessons from that day and put them in his favorite red notebook. He kept his red notebook with him everywhere he went to remind himself of the important lessons in life. Ziombus swore to himself that he would never lose his red notebook and take care of it until the day he died. But, one day Ziombus realized that he had no more room left in his notebook. Therefore, he went on a long journey out of Cairo to find another notebook that he could afford to add to his knowledge. On his way there, he got lost in the middle of the desert, now known as The White Desert, and realized he had just made the biggestmistake of his life. Hewas stuck in one of theworld’s biggest deserts. It had been already three days and Ziombus couldn’t take it anymore. He begged the gods to help him find his way out of the empty and vast desert so that he could continue his journey of finding his new notebook. Not long after, the gods received his prayers, and the god of writing and wisdom, Thoth, came down to Ziombus. Thoth told himto trust his path and let the notebook lead the way. Ziombus listened to Thoth’s advice and let the notebook lead him through the desert. As he walked through the horrendous desert, he had plenty of mirages from time to time. Ziombus passed out at least 14 times, but he kept going, even though he never believed he was going to make it. But then, he saw something in the distance. Something strange…and surprisingly large. As he neared it, he realized that the front door was open; as if someone had already opened it. He questioned himself if he should enter it or not and then told himself that it was his only chance of survival, so he entered the spiraled building. When he entered the building, he gaped in awe and amazement. Thousands of books lined up across the walls. He was going to learn so much and he finally found a notebook towrite in. But when he opened the books, he saw something very bizarre. They were empty! So, he decided to write all of his own knowledge in all of the notebooks and added some new information. He dedicated his life to the world’s first “library” and every day he wrote his stories, knowledge, and lessons into his notebooks. The gods were so pleased with Ziombus that they decided to make him a god. They turned into an owl and the smartest thing alive. For decades and decades, he poured his heart into these books and as he finished the last notebook, a windstormblew through the library. The windstormwas so big and strong that all the knowledge in the notebooks got washed away. Pieces of knowledge fromeach of his books spread out across our world. This is how we got our knowledge. Ziombus still writes in his notebooks and drops the knowledge into our world to this day so that we may learn, explore, and flourish in our lives every single day. 72
