COSMIC INSIGNIFICANCE By: Jason (Aziz) Apara ’29 In the grand tapestry of the universe’s expanse, Diverse strands of drapery in a cosmic dance, Each being claims a higher stance, With a natural desire, they advance. The grass dances over the soil, triumphant and free, While the squirrel tramples each blade with glee, A hound eyes the rodent, a silent plea, A time-worn oak observes a patient tree. Man surveys the scene, arrogance in his stride, A bird soars overhead, wisdom as its guide, Yet nature’s grace, in humble stride, Connects us all, side by side. In the vast universe, we’re mere specks of light, From grass to stars, in the grand cosmic flight, In our own ways, we each take our slight, In the grand scheme of things, we share the same height. REMINISCING By: Aziza Apara ’29 I walk through the dark desolate field and trudge past the eerie lake. The diamond moon shining a path for me. The stars, scattered like pearls at the bottom of an ocean. 66
