Little Inklings 2024
MEDUSA By: Selin Kaleli ’28 Trapped in a temple, the moon full, fog rolling in, surrounded by the cold marble stone. I was cornered. I was the victim; instead I was painted as the villian. It’s never their fault, always mine. He brought Athena’s anger on me; cursed me, so that nobody could look me in the eye. I would never find love. Just because I had hair dark as a raven; and skin pale and smooth like milk, everything that other women wished they had. Just because I ran into a man that looked as if light exuded from him. Just because this man cornered me; blamed all of his wrongdoings on me. I was the one who was attacked, and then punished for all of eternity. Rough scales run down my body; my hair, filled with serpents. I was a monster now; and nobody could viewmy face. 62
