THE FLOWERS WILL BLOOM ONCE AGAIN By: Sarah Karsenti ’29 Spring awakens, flowers bloom A girl’s eyes open wide, a world with no gloom All leaves on trees And flowers for hours Drift into heat, and the sunlight showers Summer begins, the palm trees shine Sand in her toes, she walks into the ocean at nine The smells of shells The prancing waves dance And now the leaves fall, a chilly chance Autumn is here, the orange and red Her boots crack the leaves as they fall on her head The cold is not old The fall will crawl Into the snow, the branches will stand tall Winter commences, and the grass fades away The only sight is the snow as rain Snow takes her show And the winter blend won’t end But at last, the flowers will bloom once again 60
