Little Inklings 2022

We were running down the alley, hand in hand, hearts pounding as hard as the bullets hitting the wall. I make sure she’s next to me and safe; my partner in crime, my world. You could call us the remake of Bonnie and Clyde, but we are just better. This is our sixth robbery this year and not once before have been caught. Until now, when a minor mistake turned out to be the biggest mistake of our lives. Now we are running for our lives together, being hunted by the police like we are prey. I turn my head to her once again, to see her face, to make sure she wasn’t hit or hurt, but all I see is that smile from all the adrenaline rushing through our bodies. I smile too because her smile makes me smile. I turn my head back, looking straight ahead, to see the never-ending path in front of us, feeling the bullets soar past my face. “Cops nowadays have really bad aim,” I think in my head. But then, my arm gets heavy and I hear a thud on the floor. I look over to see her face, yet all I see is the wall, until I look down to the floor. There I see her, laying on the floor, looking at me with tears in her eyes. She was shot. SEE YOU AGAIN OLIVIA AUGUSTIN ❜ 26 56
