THE ORIGIN OF GRANTA WHO’S THE WRITER? THE STORY Once, there was a goddess named Granta. She was the goddess of life and death. Her brothers are Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. They create, preserve, and destroy the universe. Granta just controls the life on it. When they were children they played together and never really used their powers. Once they were older and the universe was created, that’s when her powers were put into play. Granta started making creatures and plants. Once she started using her powers, her brothers realized how powerful she could be. While she was sleeping they killed her. They poisoned her to get her tired and then stabbed Granta in her sleep. Granta was the first creature to ever die and she had nowhere to go. She summoned her power and created the underworld. After this more creatures started dying. Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu told people it was Granta’s doing. Eventually people learned that to make new people, others had to die. They also learned that the kinder people were, the longer they got to live. They learned this from a war hero Granta sent back up to the overworld, Gondo. He told them that Granta was creating a balance. That was when people began to praise her for her powers. When Gondo was done, Granta pulled him right back down. Her brothers forbade it. They said anyone who worshipped her would get to meet her personally. People praised her anyway. Since Granta was no longer living, people worshiped her through the name, Granta Spirit.
