THE COSMIC REFLECTION IKER FIERRO ❜ 28 Once upon a time the sky was bright yellow, like the Sun. But then the people of Earth were tired of being blinded temporarily by the sky when looking up and asked the gods to do something. The gods looked at Indra, the god of the sky, for console, but he said the sky should be the color of storm clouds, which would have made it difficult to see if a storm was coming. All the gods fought and fought on which color should be the new sky, but no one could agree. They decided that using the gods power, they would create a new god of decisions and thought, which was called Ǔ“Ž[ ™€ȡ[ , or “the Decision Maker.” He decided that the sky would be blue during the day, because it would contrast the Sun, reflect the water, and would remind people of Shiva. During the Night, the sky would turn black so that people could sleep and so they could admire the stars and constellations clearly. The gods liked this idea, but they didn’t know how to make it that shade of blue. After all, not everything comes out of meditation (though most things do). They decided that they would pluck the feathers of all the Peacocks of the world, and spread them out to form the sky. But every evening, the sun would get too close and burn the feathers, creating the orange and red of the sunset. The ashes from the feathers would form the black of Night. After the Night, the feathers are reborn and the cycle restarts. 16
