After a few minutes of begging and probably blackmail, the fox was let down and allowed to explain his presence. A long story short, Sun Wukong agreed to help him only if he got something in return - three of the five sausages the fox would get if he won. It was a hard trade, but they made the deal. Two days later, the fox and Wei met up at a river. The scent ?mint?was chosen as the odor they would have to find - whoever discovered it first would be declared the winner. There was one little mint plant 108,000 li away - just where the goddess couldn?t reach. Sun Wukong flipped all the way there, found the mint, flipped back, turned invisible, and led the fox to the plant. As a result, the fox won and was rewarded with a strand of 5 sausages!
