Streaked across a clear sky There’s a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby Miami, my mom said, is beautiful but not like the beauty you’ve known Radiating sunlight and singing, flitting parakeets Rolling clear tides, Thunderstorms, lightning flashing across turbid skies And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true “Look up” my mom said Pointing, Up above the Biscayne Bay shoreside Past palm fronds and the whirring noises of electric scooters and hybrid cars Past trails of clouds left by planes And the exclaims of others who just spotted it, There it was A rainbow cast across the sky Flight Zijin Liu ’27
