Have you ever heard of the Egg Theory? If you haven’t, be grateful. But since You are here, I’ll share my troubles, and for that I thank you. Death is true to each their own. Some deaths feel just while others feel like the most wretched experience one could ever have. I’ve heard death like a whisper against my ear and I’ve seen it hold flowers over the rained yard full of those who died before I was born. In the Egg Theory, we have died many times. We will contin- ue to die for centuries. I am You and You are Me. And for the life you have, it’ll never end. You are everyone. This is the theory that you will live every life that exists. You’ll be the victim and then you’ll be the criminal. You’ve been your mother and your daughter. And You will be Me. Time is no burden. It is only our worry. Today you live with artificial intelligence and tomorrow you’ll be in 50 BC. You have been everywhere, and you’ll only rest when you’ve lived every life. I am You. It may feel fair. It may feel better than the possibility of heaven or hell. Maybe it is the acme of the pain we share. For me, I wish I never learned of it. The poets might say it’s the circularity of justice. You’ll be murdered and the murderer. To that, I say this is loneliness without solitude. You have never met another person. Even as I speak to you dear reader, I am speaking to myself. Isn’t that awfully lonely? Everyone around you is just another version of you. These are theories, but doesn’t every belief go unproven? I AM YOU AND YOU ARE ME Sophia Romanov-Imber ’24 12
