Inklings 2023

EDITORS’ NOTE This year’s Inklings bridges the worlds of reali- ty and fiction through language and image. We invite you to cross over into eerie utopias and angel-powered towns, fall into poems of familial love and romantic idealization, and find a reflection of yourself in someone else’s story. Through a carefully curated anthology of poetry, short fiction, photography, and artwork, we hope to showcase the diverse and varied talents of our student body. Our central theme for this year’s issue is life, death, and the moments between: the discovery and loss of love, the blessings and the burdens of discovering one’s identity, the creation and the destruction of the natural world, and the memories that shape our uniquely human experiences. The works in this year’s Inklings may be set across time and place, but they tell timeless stories of growth, sorrow, and acceptance. As you step into the world of Inklings, we encourage you to read between the lines and look care- fully across images in order to find the truth expressed by each writer and artist. We would like to thank the students who have engaged in the process of creative expression and bravely shared their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through their written and visual work. Thank you to our faculty sponsors, Mr. Stock and Ms. Morgan, and the Inklings team who have worked diligently and thoughtfully to bring this issue to life. Lucia Rose Dahn ’23 and Athena Tsialas ’23
