She stares at him Simply a figment of her romanticization Of the time she could say every word she felt She wonders if her heart will beat without his She will not remember the cracks in the sidewalk but just the held hands Not the broken glass But the apology that stands Not the excuses But the guilt that ate Born from the gaslight She left.
