There is an unspeakable pain that emerges As life slowly digs its claws into your skin, Slowly trying to pull you under while you try to stay afloat. Some days are easy; you barely feel the wounds in your arms, You feel as if you could fly, fly far above never to be dragged down again, But deep down you know, every time we go up we come down again, You know this moment won’t last. Even then you still enjoy it, maybe because, but probably despite this dark specter hanging over you, Standing in the corner, waiting for the moment when your defenses are down, When suddenly it becomes too much, and then it comes. The claws, the pain, the agony inside as you barely try to hang on, Hang on to what you wonder? Well I don’t even know, But you feel it too. All of a sudden you feel it, be it on a sunny winter day, A cloudy summer night, with the stars shining far above. The scars that never really healed, were never really gone, All of a sudden the world closes in around you. And there you stand, inside your little box, What’s outside is but a mirage, of color and shapes that have no meaning, What is there to do? You scream, scream, for what else is there to do? At nothing in particular but at everything at once you scream. Fly While You Still Can Luca Campiani 7
