Inklings 2022
EDITOR’S NOTE This year’s Inklings blends written and visual narratives to illustrate the complexity of the human condition. We invite you to enter the world of Inklings and journey from Miami to Iceland, to Ecuador, and to fictional times and places. Through a carefully curated anthology of poetry, short sto- ries, photography, and artwork, we hope to showcase the diverse and unique talents of the student body. Our central theme for this year’s issue was passion: to find purpose in our lives and pursue it courageously, to care for our community in difficult moments, and to fight to protect our natural world. The works in this year’s Inklings address this theme in a multitude of ways, from personal narratives about sports and longing, to artwork that experiments with color to document the beauty of the natural world. While ev- ery piece in this magazine represents an individual’s unique artistic style, each also illustrates a unique component of the shared human experience. Creating this magazine during ongoing climate change, a war in Ukraine, and a COVID pandemic has not been easy. We hope this issue inspires passion, courage, and creativity in the RE community during these unprecedented times. We would like to thank the students who have engaged in the process of creative expression and bravely shared their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through their written and visual work. Thank you to our faculty sponsors, Mr. Stock and Ms. Alex- ander, and the Inklings team who have worked diligently and thoughtfully to bring this issue to life. Lucia Rose Dahn ’23 1
