DETERMINISM AND LOVE Madeleine Bagnall I used to see Determinism as fatalism, that all that rose from ashes were bound to return to it again, that all that was built would be destroyed, and that we are bound to fate, in all that we do... ...yet somehow, I can’t stop myself from seeing it as romantic, and I find myself grateful, that in the grandiose Newtonian principles that dictate the course of our entire universe from start to finish, in all the inter-working parts that no mathematicians will ever be able to iterate in the course of our lifetime, that there was one part, of one line, of that all encompassing proof, set out for us. And it comforts me to know, that, despite all of the infinitesimal probabilities we’ve calculated for ourselves to understand how the universe works, however small we decided the chance was that we’d be where we are now, we were always fated to meet.
