Bob McMullen and his wife, Ellen, send greetings from Hoschton, Ga. They are pleased to share the recent birth of two great-grandchildren, one in Fort Worth, Tex., and one in New Orleans, La. Hal Kendall is living in Coconut Grove. Hal stays in regular touch with Lou Dessaint ’76, his former Ransom roommate Tommy Otto and Sennett Duttenhoffer ’57. 1957 Please consider becoming a class agent. Sennett Duttenhoffer , see Hal Kendall ’54 1960 Class Agent: Joe Annis (jpannis@aol.com ) Joe Annis just accepted the position of Chair of Swan Songs, a non-profit based in Austin, Tex., that fulfills musical last wishes for individuals with a terminal illness or nearing the end of life. The individual, and often the family, request their favorite style of music, sometimes a particular musician (Austin is billed as the Live Music Capital in the U.S. and has many talented musicians). Swan Songs sends local musicians to perform an intimate concert in the home, hospice or care facility. There is no cost to the family. The musicians are compensated by Swan Songs, so they also help support the local music community. A few examples: a Mariachi band in the living room of a dying patriarch surrounded by generations of offspring sharing in the music; a woman, whose dream of visiting Japan was cut short by ALS, listening to Japanese songs played by a young violinist; legendary Texas musician Ray Benson performing a private concert for a lifelong Asleep at the Wheel fan surrounded by her daughters. The examples are many and heartwarm- ing for the families and musicians alike. Swan Songs was created by Christine Albert, a singer-songwriter, in 2005. The organization’s growth has been steady and thoughtful. Before the COVID-19 restrictions began in 2020, Swan Songs was performing around 300 concerts a year. Joe, a retired physician, has been on the Swan Songs board since 2016 and finds this service a touching way to contribute meaning and memories at the end of each concert recipient’s days. 1961 Class Agents: Charles Sands (sandsvest@bellsouth.net ), Edward Seward (etseward1@gmail.com ) 1962 REUNION YEAR Class Agents: James Beverley (jamescbeverley@bellsouth.net ), Arthur Smith (macuquina@me.com ) 1963 Please consider becoming a class agent. Find the story here: https://www. nytimes.com/2021/10/20/arts/design/ the-return-of-the-shadowman.html Steve Pearson writes, “On December 31, Tony Lamas and his wife Isabel hosted an elegant and fun party to jointly celebrate New Year’s Eve and Tony’s 70th birthday. A highly respected cardiolo- gist at Mt. Sinai Hospital and an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of Medicine, Tony looked healthy and happy to be sharing time with his family and close friends. The party was held outside in a beautiful garden at the home of another classmate, Jose Valdes-Fauli , and his partner, Shed Boren.” Jeff Lindsay, known during his Ransom days as Jeffry Freundlich, has written a new book series (soon to be a major motion picture). The protagonist is Riley Wolfe, and he’s the greatest thief who ever lived. He’ll tell you so himself. He likes to take on scores that everyone else says are impossible. He prefers taking from the greedy, over-privileged 1%, and he doesn’t mind killing them if they get in the way. Book one is Just Watch Me , and book two is Fool Me Twice. Both are avail- able wherever books are sold, hardcover
