RE Log Spring 2022

38 Ransom Everglades LOG SPRING 2022 Focus Interdisciplinary Collaborative project features RE’s most loyal employees Students in RE’s photography and English classes formed an interdisciplinary partnership this past winter, working together to capture images and stories of six longtime employees in food services and facilities on RE’s campuses. The cross-departmental project that highlighted some of the school’s most loyal workers also involved contributions from RE’s faculty DEI Committee, Director of Inclusion and Community Engagement Wendell Graham ’74 and photography teacher Matt Stock and English teacher Gila Aloni. Photography students who had previous studio experience volunteered to take the portraits. They set up the lighting, directed the models and worked on each image in post-production. Student writers from different grades and with different backgrounds were selected by Dr. Aloni to author the pieces. “The students, much to my pride as an educator,” Stock said, “ran with the concept and executed it masterfully.” The photographs and stories were exhibited in the Lewis Family Auditorium after this issue went to press.
