30 Ransom Everglades LOG SPRING 2022 Drama students delight with Little Shop of Horrors Student ews Middle school misfit wizards charm audience at Swenson Hall Middle school drama students offered a charming and spirited portrayal of Puffs, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain High School of Magic and Magic , a Harry Potter parody that transported the audience at Swenson Hall to a school of lovable, misfit wizards in England. Caro Linfante ’26, Austin Aagaard ’26, Orli Ressler ’26, Dominique Cederberg ’26 and narrators Isabella Stewart ’28, Annabel Kaplan ’26 and Aaliyah Asghar ’26 led the energetic cast of 16, many of whom played multiple roles for the Nov. 3-5 production. Under the direction of faculty member Gina Montet, the students performed in front of an on-campus audience for the first time since March 2020. The entire play took place on one set that had been built by student scenic artists and carpenters from the upper school. Ransom Everglades upper school drama students returned to the Lewis Family Auditorium after a long absence due to COVID-19 with a hilarious rendition of Little Shop of Horrors . Performances on Nov. 19-20 featured brilliant vocals, skilled physical comedy and a colorful set that offered a showcase for senior leads Zoe Holtzman ’22 and Matthew Zide ’22 . Talented freshmen Jaerla Sajous ’25 and Armando Segrera ’25 made their upper school drama debuts as Nico Maynulet ’23, Natasha Do Valle ’23, Natasha Rodriguez ’23, Ana Martin ’22 and Santiago Sauceda ’24 also starred. The production was the first for new performing arts teacher Laura Montes under the direction of new Director of Arts Shawn Costantino, and it included live music orchestrated by faculty member Jon Hamm and a set and staging engineered by Quincy Knowles and Flor Ancewicz.
